pros: it has a plastic shield. nice wood, not cheap looking, sturdy. can hold a big book, it’s large.

5 Stars Great Book Stand
Fits all books and some three ring binders. Has a splash guard witch is great for when you forget to turn you burner down and the pot starts to boil over:) it happens. It could stand to be a little wider to cover the outer edges of the book but over all It is a great book stand.

A bit larger than I would like for my small counter top space but does what it is supposed to do….Protect my books/recipes. I do like the foldable storage design.
5 Stars Welcomed addition to the kitchen
I was really excited when I received this cookbook holder as a bridal gift. No more having to use cans or various other items to hold my books open! It’s terrific-adjustable for many different sized books, has a splatter guard and it’s attractive. I definitely recommend this product and will purchase as a gift in the future.

This stand is the best! It holds everything from a single sheet of paper to my largest cookbook, then folds up and joins my cookbooks looking like another book! It has a beautiful, easy to clean finish, and I love how the acrylic protects the pages from spatters. I would highly recommend this stand to anyone.

Well, this is a very cute and moderately functional cookbook stand. 4 Stars It DOES Hold Heavy Books
I ordered this from Bed Bath and Beyond. They sell it for $1.00 more (if you were curious). The item looks exactly as pictured, and it is durable. It does require 11″ of clearance (flipping it down and back up into ‘hiding’). Things to keep in mind, this WILL and DOES hold heavy books despite the impression given by a previous reviewer. The thing is, you need good cabinets that were built properly (for lack of better words). Many older cabinets use a pressed wood ‘flooring’ which is too thin and will result in the screw popping up through the wood. Having that said, check to make sure it will fit in its stored position under your cabinet, and just check the thickness of your cabinet bottom. You could probably use smaller screws to accomidate older cabinetry, but I am not sure it will be as sturdy.
My cabinets are 5 years old, so it worked well for me and I can use very large books with no problems whatsoever.
My only complaint (which isn’t really one) is that it doesn’t just flip up and down, you have to pull two rods apart to do so. It’s nothing major, I just assumed it would flip with ease.
At this price, it’s a great kitchen tool and an excellent bargin. I plan to get some extra ones as gifts for my friends and family.

Great product. Just make sure the cookbook holder will have room to swing closed in the location you are planning to put it. You may have to move some countertop appliances as the holder requires 11″ of clearance.

Not strong enough to hold a heavy cookbook (e.g. Joy of Cooking). Too bad - good concept.
3 Stars doesn’t work for all cabinets & photo is misleading
This item was not what I expected at all. The photos make it look mostly white and note very visually obstrusive. It is mostly black plastic with a cheap looking mirrored surface on the front. It only works if you have several inches between the bottom of your cabinet and the front face of your cabinet. Mine are almost flush and thus, this item looked terrible when folded up because it stuck out a lot and was cheap black plastic and I have white cabinets. It is also not very functional because when pulled out with a cookbook on it, the cookbook blocks you from opening a cabinet! How terrible to be cooking and not be able to open your cabinet! Overall, I wanted to love this product but it just doesn’t work.

Great! Just what I expected. I can use this not only for cooking but also on the desk to stand up papers for easy reference while at the computer. This product also works as a music stand.

I received this item as a wedding gift. As another poster noted, there was no labeling on it, which might be it’s only fault. I LOVE this product. It’s flexible enough so I can stick in a hard cover book, spiral, anything has worked so far. As I tend to make a huge mess when I cook, especially sauces, this keeps the whole book protected and for paperbacks, keeps it open so I’m not constantly losing my place because the book closes.
Other posters mentioned other things this is good for and I highly recommend too! It works great for papers you need to type on the computer.
I love that it’s clear because it blends into our counter making it look less cluttered.
1 Star Useless Gimmicks
This cookbook holder is too shallow to hold a book. At best, one can insert several sheets of paper. I was very disappointed as I expected (note the name “cookbook holder”) it to hold an actual book. I made the mistake of ordering four and gave all to charitable re-sale shop. Perhaps some craft person can conjure a practical use for these. They definitely will not hold an actual book!

2 Stars not good for bindings
I bought this clear cookbook holder to replace a similar one that broke after years of daily use. This new one really squashes down the pages and it is very difficult to use for thicker cookbooks. I’m worried that it will eventually lead to unnecessary wear and tear on the bindings.
